What counts as a win

Tell Glancely which event is a sale, a lead or a sign-up, and what to call it.

When you connect a property, Glancely reads the key events you marked in Google Analytics, and what the property sends, and picks the likeliest win — a sale, a lead, a sign-up. The Overview then asks you to confirm it: That's right, or Change. If nothing looks like a win, Glancely assumes a shop — the event purchase, called "Purchases" and "Revenue" — and the Overview asks about that instead, since a site that counts leads would otherwise show zero sales.

To change it later, Owners and Admins open Settings → Data sources, press Configure on the property, and set:

  • Business type, which fills sensible defaults.
  • Conversion event: the Google Analytics event that counts. It checks whether the event actually happened recently.
  • What to call it, in the singular and plural.
  • Whether it carries money, and the currency. Without money — leads or bookings, say — the Revenue page is named after what you count (“Leads & spend”) and shows what each one cost.
  • Optional monthly targets, and the steps of your funnel.

For a Google Ads account, Configure chooses which conversion actions count. For a Search Console site, it takes your brand names, so searches for your brand are shown apart from everything else.
